Habitat pod

Habitat pods are cube shaped prefabricated enclosures designed to house small and medium sized Kreatures. Resembling a high tech vivarium crossed with a shipping container, they are highly modular, constructed from standardized, easy to assemble panels; multiple cubes can be stacked next to or on top of each other in order to construct larger habitats. The basic design features a feeding slot, a forcefield generator, and a console for adjusting the pod's temperature, humidity and lighting. They're a relatively affordable alternative to custom built enclosures, making them especially useful for lower-tier teams. They can vary in size but on average a single cube has 12.5 x 12.5 feet of interior space.

In the decades since they were first introduced these enclosures have become standard issue equipment among Kreature Tamers. Originally they were modified from bomb shelters manufactured by the Griffith-Gorxx Corporation. As such, pods are extremely robust, capable of easily withstanding an explosion from a multi-megaton nuclear warhead. When reinforced with a forcefield they can even repel shots from a heavy artillery Aura Blaster. However, a sufficiently determined Kreature can still break out of one, so the trick is to furnish the pod so its occupant is comfortable. In an emergency, pods can sealed and then pumped full of odorless, colourless sedative gas in order to tranqulize the Kreature inside.

Habitat pods are also utilized by Kreature Trackers. They can be made portable and loaded onto a transporter vehicle to bring their Utility Kreatures with them on long term missions. Some Trackers have even modified pods into traps for capturing Feral Kreatures.

The term “Habitat pod” is actually a registered trademark of Griffith-Gorxx. Officially these structures are called Modular vivariums (or “Movivs” for short.) However, most Tamers broadly refer to any modular vivarium a “pod” regardless of its actual brand.
