The K-Square is an obsolete K-Storage format.

Functionality

K-Squares work on the same principle as modern K-Storage devices, using a tractor beam to lock onto a recipient Kreature's nucleus, converting it into pure concentrated aura. Due to the technological limitations of the era they were invented, K-Squares instead store Kreatures on special discs made from of ground-up K-Gems. Tamers could use the touchscreen on the front of the Square to identify the Kreature inside and check its vital statics. Additional buttons below the screen can beam the Kreature in and out of the device and turn it on or off. International law prohibits the concealment of K-Storage devices, so Tamers used to carry their K-Squares around in pockets, fanny packs, handbags and utility belts with translucent "windows" on them.

In more recent times, K-Storage technology has become much more powerful and efficient and production costs have decreased, allowing the functionality of the K-Square to be added to Tamer Amulets. K-Squares became obsolete and translucent pockets on everything fell out of style. However, this did not entirely spell the end of the K-Square or its associated fashion trends. Some Tamers enjoy their retro appeal and a dedicated subculture has formed around the collecting and trading of vintage K-Square models.
