It stands in opposition to Synthogen, a much larger company with more mainstream recognition; there is a perception among consumers that K-TEK is a cheap knockoff brand. K-TEK was run independently at first, but in DAC5210 it was purchased by an Akatorian conglomerate, Zolton Unlimited, which intended to sell off the company's assets.
