Spectralopia
Spectralopia ("Spectral Eye") is a range of inheritable conditions possessed by Mass Produced Humans and their Offshoot descendants.
Overview
Spectralopia first emerged during the creation of the first generation of Mass-Produced Humans, in which they would develop unusual characteristics of the eyes as a side-effect of the cloning process. 1 out of 10 would have strange eye colours, such as red, pink, yellow or purple, termed Type-01 Spectralopia. 5 out of 10 had a glittery, metallic sheen to their eyes, termed Type-02 Spectralopia. Individuals with both were termed to have Advanced Spectralopia. Later batches of mass-produced humans would have Type-01 and Advanced Spectralopia ironed out of them thanks to refinements in the cloning process, but they would still have a 1 out of 50 chance of developing Type-02. Spectralopia persists as a condition to this day as a result of Offshoots inheriting it from their parents.
Fortunately, spectralopia is a benign condition for most of those who have it. Individuals with Type-01 or Type-02 may have a higher than average chance of developing vision problems, which is further compounded in Advanced Spectralopia, but this can be alleviated by simply wearing glasses or contact lenses. The downsides to the condition are mainly social. Offshoots have lower social status than Direct-Liners, and having spectralopia clearly identifies them. Some individuals may try to hide it by applying pigment-dying nanotech or wearing coloured lenses.
In nations located in the Kiisaktos Empire's former territory, spectralopia is more common among the Offshoot population. This is due to the fact that there were fewer Direct-Liners allied with the Empire contributing their DNA to its armed forces.
