Direct-Liners are defined as social class of humans who can trace their ancestry directly back to the original group of refugees that were part of the Dimentiara Exodus. Most sided with the Zartex Coalition during the Refugee Wars after they were mistreated by the Kiisaktos Empire. They donated their genetic material to the Coalition in order to mass produce clones to build up the human population. Humans who are descended from these clones are known as Offshoots.
In modern times, Direct-Liners form a privileged minority among the human population; they were able to use their genetic material and historical knowledge as bargaining chips to leverage special treatment from the Coalition at the outset. Thanks to this they had more advantages and greater social mobility available to them due to generational wealth and inherited assets, which enabled their families to obtain greater social status and secure political power in the postwar era despite their smaller numbers. All humans are ostensibly equal under the law but Direct Liners continue to benefit from power structures that were established before the clones were ever created.
These days, there are very few (if any) Direct-Liners without any Offshoot in them; if they hadn't interbred they'd have gone extinct. Despite this, there is a supremacist movement among a small group of Direct-Liners who view themselves as the only "real" humans.
