Severax is Dimentiara's smallest continent. It is located west of the Trikos Islands and marks the border between the Sea of Ghosts and the Sea of Despair.

Overview

Severax is Dimentiara’s smallest continent, but also its most perilous and mysterious, due to its high abundance of exceptionally vicious and powerful kreatures. At some point in prehistory it was connected to Crylona, broke away and drifted south, as evidenced by their closely related flora and fauna. The majority of the continent is temperate in climate, with grasslands in the north and temperate forests in the center, which transitions into swampland and tropical rainforest in the south.

A mysterious phenomenon known as “Wavelength X” (or simply “X-Waves”) makes mindlinking on Severax extremely difficult for even the most skilled Kreature Tamers. As such, it is impossible to build and protect large scale communities on the continent and it remains largely uninhabited, with the exception of a handful of scientific outposts. Despite this, many feral Battle Kreatures inhabit the continent; presumably they swam ashore after shipwrecks or were intentionally abandoned there.

Though Severax is currently devoid of civilization, this may have not always have been the case. Ancient ruins built by a mysterious lost civilization dot the island, implying that perhaps the X-Waves are a recent occurrence. Severax is collectively governed by all of Dimentiara's other nations, which have signed a treaty declaring it neutral territory.

Geographical Features

Teleeg Island

A larger island found north of Severax. The terrain consists primarily of temperate grassland. An abandoned construction site lies on its northern shore; prior to signing the treaty the Rikengan Navy attempted to build a military base there in an attempt to take control of supply lines leading to and from Crylona. However, rampaging Kreatures driven berserk by an X-Wave surge destroyed the base and drove out the Rikengan soldiers before the base could be finished.

Falorn Grassland

Vortalis Mountains

Mountains rise from Severax’s western half, bisecting the continent from the Evrar Penninsula and circling Fangmouth Bay. Evergreen trees, mosses, perennials and lichens, as well as clear, cool, oxygen rich upland pools, nourish a community of small herbivorous kreatures. They are preyed upon by Dimentiara’s only breeding population of Feral Zictroes, which roost in the mountain peaks during the day, coming out at night to bathe in the moonlight and hunt in the mountains and grasslands. They are the island’s uncontested apex predators, with the exception of its population of Soleilians, which are active during the day to avoid competition.

Shade Forest

The interior of Severax is dominated by a dark and foreboding temperate forest. The trees here are huge, gnarled and mossy. Large bioluminescent mushrooms seem to provide the only beacons of light beneath the canopy.

Zelem Island

This tiny island was once located by the northeast coast of Severax. An ancient shrine containing a Zictroe in suspended animation along with a handful of Zictroe nucleus samples was discovered there, but the island was destroyed by a volcanic eruption which was triggered soon after. The ancient lab was lost but the specimens were recovered by the KCF. Further details concerning this event remain classified. Whatever endemic wild kreatures once lived there are most likely extinct.

Zaftien Swamp

The rivers that flow in from the mountains and cut through the Shade Forest spill into the lowlands separating it from the jungles to the south. Patrolling the wetlands are a cast of savage swamp monsters, and the air is thick with swarms of bloodsucking insects.
