Tier
Kreature Combat teams are sorted into Tiers of competition based on their standing within the Kreature Combat circuit. The system is simple: if a team wins battles, they'll climb up the tiers. If they lose battles, they'll drop down. The tiers are as follows, from highest to lowest:
- Apex-Tier
- Upper-Tier
- Mid-Tier
- Low-Tier
- Bottom-Tier
Bottom-tier teams have to level grind to get to low-tier before they're allowed to participate in any of the KCF's major qualification tournaments. Making it to the third round in such a tournament will automatically bump a team up to the next tier, regardless of how much level grinding they still needed to do before entering. This will fast-track a team's rise through the tiers, but they may wind up being surrounded by opponents they might not be ready for.
Teams are not allowed to challenge opponents below their current tier, but they can accept challenges from lower rated teams. If a lower rated team defeats a higher rated team they'll rise faster through the tiers, but conversely they'll drop down harder if they lose. It's a high-risk, high-reward strategy; most teams opt for the safer route of slowly level grinding by winning matches against other teams in their own tier.
The Grades of the Tamers on a team have no effect on its competitive standing. A team full of high grade Tamers can still plummet all the way to the bottom-tier if they lose too many matches. Such a fate befell the Wyldcard Team during the DAC5215 season.
