A common, hardy amphibian with a voracious appetite. They can be found in Zaitopia from the Keemok Swamplands all the way up to Eastern Zaitopia and the Tremek Islands. Although some herpetologists classify the Tremek variant a separate species known as the Tremek Island Toad (Anaxyrus luxor), they look outwardly similar and can produce fertile offspring with Caustic Toads, indicating a recent evolutionary divergence. They do most of their hunting at night or during the rain, hiding away under leaf litter or in burrows through most of the day. The poisonous secretions from their parotoid glands can inflict a terrible burning sensation if they come into contact with mucosa or open cuts. During the mating season, they gather in large numbers in secluded forest ponds and slow moving creeks to spawn. Their eggs and tadpoles are also poisonous.
