All Kreatures are sorted according to their Rank.

What Determines a Kreature's Rank?

In the interests of safety and fairness of competition, the Kreature Combat Federation classifies all Kreatures according to the maximum intensity that each species expresses through their Nucleo-Aura, with Rank D- being the lowest and Rank A+ being the highest. Therefore, Ranks could be considered analogous to weight classes in other combat sports such as Boxing or MMA. However, raw power isn't everything and even a low-ranking Kreature can have useful abilities in the greater context of a team battle, or defeat a higher-ranking Kreature if its Tamer utilizes good strategy and teamwork.

Rank is immutable and does not change no matter how much a Kreature trains; they represent a hard limit on a Kreature's potential. While individual Kreatures of the same species may vary in strength and increase that strength by training, the margin of difference is not wide enough to place them in different ranks.

Micro Kreatures, due to being unable to support an aura on their own, are exempted from this system and do not have ranks. Their power is dependent on that of their host Kreature, channeling the host's aura and effectively acting as an extension of its body.

KCF Ranking System

RANK D

The lowest ranking Kreatures, they tend to be small, inexpensive, and relatively easy to mindlink with, making them well suited for novice or rookie Tamers. They certainly aren't starved for choice either; most Kreatures belong to this rank. Owning a Rank D doesn't require a license, though they can only be purchased by someone at least 18 years old. While these Kreatures might be somewhat lacking in strength, they should never be underestimated; even the weakest Kreatures are impervious to conventional weapons and capable of maiming a human being.

RANK C

These Kreatures set the standard for all others. Middle of the road in strength, expense, husbandry and trainability, their versatility makes them suitable for both moderately experienced beginners and veteran Tamers, and form the backbone of many teams. Although only a Lvl1 license is required to own a Rank C, most rookies cut their teeth on Rank D Kreatures and work their way up.

RANK B

These mighty beasts have power above and beyond the average Kreature. On top of being somewhat difficult to grow, their strong instincts, large size and demanding husbandry make them suitable for more experienced Tamers. A Level 2 license is required to own one, which can only be obtained after acquiring a Level 1 license.

RANK A

The crème de la crème. The ultimate warriors. Rank A Kreatures are super weapons; apex predators; living, breathing forces of nature. Though they have incredible raw power, they are difficult to grow, expensive to care for, and have overwhelming instincts which only the most skilled and experienced Tamers can handle. A Level 3 license is required to own one, which can only be obtained after acquiring a Level 2 license.
