Endemic Wildlife of Dimentiara

Biodiversity in Dimentiara is not composed entirely of Kreatures. There are animals, plants, fungi, etc, just as there is on earth. The earliest Kreatures were the result of K-Matter enhanced horizontal gene transfer between Dimentiara's prehistoric life forms; indeed, the genetic legacy of many extinct organisms, such as dinosaurs, lives on in various Kreatures. Though one would assume that all non-monster life would be wiped out by Kreatures, life finds a way; K-Matter provides a resource that only Kreatures can use, allowing for niche differentiation to occur and thus reducing competition between Kreatures and their non-monster brethren.

All that said, most megafaunal niches in Dimentiara are held by Kreatures. Animals in Dimentiara tend not to grow much larger than around cow-sized; anything past that becomes a tempting amount of protein even if there's no K-Matter in it, thus selective pressure favours smaller sizes.

Some animals were brought by human refugees, and some exist in both worlds, but some are endemic to Dimentiara. This is by no means a complete list, but merely a catalogue of Dimentiara's most noteworthy taxa.
