A Kreature designed for high-speed ambush attacks in open terrain. It has a thick, armoured shell composing of mineralized tissue that absolutely resembles stone. It will bury itself in the substrate, imitating a boulder, and then waits for prey to approach. It can remain dormant for weeks or months, but once it feels the footsteps of approaching prey, it springs into action, rapidly chasing its victim down and seizing it with powerful jaws armed with huge fangs that inject neurotoxic venom. Though its shell is very tough, it contains nerve endings and is quite sensitive. Hikers are advised to be on their guard in areas inhabited by feral Arocknids. People have unknowingly sat on top of sleeping Arocknids and been launched 30 meters straight into the air when the Kreature awakens and suddenly springs to its feet.
