A type of crocodilian found in the tropic and subtropic biomes of Dimentiara's eastern hemisphere, with their highest population densities in the Keemok Swamplands, where they are the top predator. Their skin is heavily armoured with osteoderms, even along the belly, so they are rarely hunted and very common throughout their range. They are slightly more cold-tolerant than their larger cousin, the [[Royal Caiman]], and in regions where the two species overlap, the Royal Caiman relegates the Marsh Gator to mesopredator status and even occasionally preys on them. Though generally thought of as a hypercarnivore, these reptiles are known to eat fruit now and then, and are regarded as a keystone species for their role in seed dispersal.
