The largest lizard in Dimentiara’s eastern hemisphere is a Tegu comparable in size to a Komodo Dragon. Unlike their more docile cousins, the Banded Tegu, they are able to maintain an endothermic metabolism outside the mating season, which gives them the stamina to actively pursue large game and occupy a niche as apex predators within their ecosystem. They will lay in wait and run down piglets and deer on their hindlegs, sometimes even working in pairs to trap prey. Attacks on humans are rare but have been documented. Thanks to a habit of raiding nests and consuming the eggs of wild Kreatures, they bioaccumulate small amounts of aura, which is mostly concentrated in their tooth enamel and gives the their laterally compressed front teeth a wickedly sharp edge. Their rear teeth, which are peg-like in other tegus, are instead carnassial-like for shearing flesh.
