The '''Wyldcard Compound''' is the [[Wyldcard Team]]'s base of operations. It's located in [[Refton Township]], a mostly rural area in Icewater County, a region northwest of the [[Zaito-Vara Metroplex|ZVM]]. [[Wade Romano]] purchased the Wyldcard Compound at a bargain from a previous team which had gone bankrupt. The compound's property encompasses roughly 20 acres, though most of this land remains undeveloped. As it was left in a destitute state by its former owners, the compound's always been rather shabby. However, in the wake of the Wyldcard team's rough patch in DAC5215, it became extremely run-down and only barely functions thanks to Dennis, Kristy, Wade, Ben and Riidya running themselves ragged to keep it maintained. Despite their best efforts, equipment and infrastructure are constantly breaking down and the place is infested with [[Arachnachute]]s.

===Administration Building===

Where most of the team's day to day affairs are conducted. It has a break room, a conference room, a main office, a lobby and a security control room. There's also a gazebo nearby where the staff can hang out and relax outdoors.

===Laboratory===

A facility the Wyldcard team uses to grow and analyze their Kreatures. It has a nucleus cultivation room for growing Kreatures, a subzero storage locker for preserving nucleus samples, a combat simulation deck, a data analysis room, and a server room.

===Training Facility===

Where the Wyldcard team trains for combat. The main building contains a sparring arena, a training hall, an indoor pool, a locker room and shower, and an infirmary. Adjacent to the building is a practice field about half an acre.

===Utility Buildings===

The Wyldcard team's primary utility building consists of a workshop and garage with a storage unit and a maintenance shed. The main power module is connected to various small substations which supply power to the rest of the compound. For security, there is an observation tower, a thick outer wall and a front gate that leads in and out of the compound. There's also a hangar which once housed a suborbital cruiser for transporting the team and their Kreatures to matches in other continents, but it currently sits unused; the cruiser was sold long ago to pay off the team's debts.

The integration of [[Battle Kreature]]s into warfare was a paradigm shift that changed it forever. With their [[Nucleo-Aura]]s, Battle Kreatures are impervious to all conventional weaponry. Although they are not invincible, the simplest method to dispatch a Battle Kreature is to use another against it. Therefore, the balance of power in Dimentiara lies with those who can create the most Battle Kreatures and equip them with the most [[Aura Blaster|advanced]] [[Augmentation Armour|technology]].

At the outset, one might think that the sheer variety of different Battle Kreatures would over-complicate things from a logistical standpoint, making them impractical to use in warfare by rendering military standardization impossible to enforce. However, through process of elimination in selecting the best Kreatures with the simplest husbandry requirements, this problem is resolved. Most Battle Kreatures have been designed for use in recreational battles, where the cost of specialized care is offset by the smaller scale of the operation.

There are some drawbacks to using Kreatures in warfare despite their awesome power. Kreatures are fickle and have minds of their own, which can sometimes make them unreliable. They're best kept in reserve and deployed strategically to counter the other side's Kreatures. Battles are fought across a variety of terrains by utilizing a mixture of both War Kreatures and standard Battle Kreatures, in addition to conventional weaponry, which still perfectly suffices for bombing supply lines, eliminating enemy personnel, disabling aircraft and vehicles and taking out strongholds.

The sport of [[Kreature Combat]] originated from military exercises to train Kreatures for warfare. The business of both war and Kreature Combat remain joined at the hip. Armed forces across the nations of Dimentiara view Kreature Combat as a giant recruitment scheme, and the [[Kreature Combat Federation]] is in on the scam. Local KCF branches receive government funding in exchange for ad-space. Tamers who are down on their luck are preyed upon by recruitment officers, who feed them into the military-industrial meat grinder with promises of work experience and letters of recommendation. Some former Kreature Combat teams have even been bought out and converted into private military companies.

Warfare has had a terrible impact on the environment in Dimentiara. A common tactic in warfare over the ages was to deliberately sew chaos by targeting the enemy's Kreature barracks, forcing them to waste time, resources and manpower rounding the Kreatures back up. This has led to uncaptured Kreatures breeding and siring populations of [[Feral Kreature]]s, which are a widespread nuisance. Pollution from the chemicals used in Aura-Blaster cells have contaminated former battlefields across the planet, rendering these territories uninhabitable for generations.

As of DAC5215, there are no major ongoing wars in Dimentiara, though plenty of small-scale skirmishes still occur, mostly in the form of Mindjacker incursions along the outer territories and clashes between [[Kreature Tamer#Spiritualists|Spiritualist]] factions. It's been speculated that the major powers of Dimentiara, having become too strong to challenge each other openly, are secretly backing proxy wars in an attempt to undermine each other.

'''Aura Blasters''' are specialized weaponry designed for use with [[Battle Kreature]]s, particularly when integrated into [[Augmentation Armour]]. Aura Blasters were invented by the [[Kiisaktos Empire]] not long before the Refugee Wars. They're designed to be mounted onto a Battle Kreature's exterior, using its own [[Nucleo-Aura]] to trigger a chemical reaction that fires a powerful energy beam. Depending on the type, beams may be emitted as continuous waves, as pulses, or rapid-fire; focused for longer range or diffused for a wider spread; or launched in parabolic arcs over long range for indirect fire. Blasters are made best use of by Kreatures such as [[Dawgmaw]] which otherwise lack ranged offensive attacks, though most Kreatures will benefit from having additional firepower. Since these weapons utilize a Kreature's own aura, they can drain their stamina if overused.

Blasters were used to devastating effect by the Kiisaktos Empire against the human-led rebellions that preceded the Refugee Wars. Conventional weapons could not breach the auras of ordinary Battle Kreatures, let alone fully outfitted War Kreatures. Conversely, blasters were able to penetrate the powered exoskeletons worn by [[Human Liberation Rebellion|HLR]] soldiers as if they were made of aluminum foil, as well casually obliterate the limited numbers of technicals, combat vehicles and aircraft they possessed. The [[Zartex Coalition]] would level the playing field by arming their own War Kreatures with the same equipment.

[[Domonid]]s, [[Silarc]]s and [[Dolnean]]s, technically being Kreatures themselves, are capable of using Aura Blasters. Among the armed forces of Dimentiara's nations, wrist-mounted portable blasters are standard issue for sapient nonhuman soldiers. Since the majority of enlisted soldiers are human anyway, ordinary firearms would suffice in most situations; a bullet can kill a human just as easily as a blaster but doesn't exhaust the person firing it.

Aura Blasters are illegal for civilians to possess in most nations, and their use is banned in [[Kreature Combat]]. The stamina draining effect of a blaster can shorten the lifespan of the Kreature equipping it. Furthermore the chemicals used in blasters are toxic. Spent blaster cells are hazardous material, and the beams emitted by blasters have a toxic effect in of themselves. Exceptionally powerful aura beams can even contaminate the environment like radioactive fallout. However, the technology also has applications other than warfare. Medical Aura Blasters are sometimes used to perform surgery on Kreatures or on Dominid, Silarc and Dolnean patients.

Around the same time the [[Kragok Defiance]] (an anti-imperial faction of Silarc subversives) were quietly plotting an uprising of their own. They'd created [[Tamer Amulet|amulets for mindlinking]] and had the capability to manufacture weapons, armour and Battle Kreatures. All they needed were allies, which they found in the [[Human Liberation Rebellion]], the largest surviving rebel faction among the human refugees at the time. The Defiance offered the HLR sanctuary in exchange for human genetic material, which they promised to use to rebuild the human population.

To the Kragok high council, humans were ideal candidates for mass production. Growing Silarc soldiers in addition to Battle Kreatures would be too resource-intensive. Since humans lacked [[aura]] and didn't need it in their diets, this made them cheap to grow and to feed, so the Defiance could prioritize using their aura supplies to mass produce Battle Kreatures instead. Humans also have better depth perception and colour vision than Silarcs, which made them good at spotting enemies, piloting aircraft and driving vehicles. Mass-Produced Humans would compose the bulk of the combined Kragok/HLR forces, which was renamed the [[Zartex Coalition]]. They were highly effective in battle, which inspired defectors within the Kiisaktos Empire to join the coalition. Becky is an offbeat, nerdy, hopeless girlfailure. What time she doesn't spend training or taking care of her Kreatures is spent lounging around alone in her room, inhaling junk food, playing video games and writing smutty fanfiction. She loves to yammer on endlessly about her interests, which primarily revolve around shipping her favourite male characters. She's bashful and insecure, which a lifetime of ostracization from her peers has only exacerbated. She finds difficulty making friends or even talking to people outside the internet. When she does eventually open up to someone she's sweet and intensely loyal, albeit somewhat annoying.

Becky's mother is [[Linda Lane Barsky]], an Ace-Grade Kreature Tamer with a solid rep in the singles league. Unfortunately she hasn't inherited much of her mother's combat skill. Becky's fighting style amounts to either playing support roles or flinging herself at her opponents in a reckless fury.

Spencer is an apprentice Tamer who comes to work as a groom on the [[Wyldcard Team]]. While not particularly bright, he's a wholesome, outgoing, generous guy. Nothing seems to get to him; he’s well disciplined and remains positive and enthusiastic, even when he's ordered to perform the most tedious, backbreaking or disgusting task. A former striker on his High School soccer team, he has a habit of referring to the senior Wyldcard members his "coaches" – they find it cute so they don’t bother correcting him. It's hard to say if he's just an oblivious meathead or if he puts up an optimistic front to raise morale and keep others in high spirits.

Much of [[Dimentiara]]'s history has been lost to the ages thanks to widespread global devastation of civilization and the environment. The following is an abridged summary of its major events.

==Ancient History==

Dimentiara was ruled by a warlike faction of Domonid Imperialists who called themselves the '''[[Kiisaktos Empire]].''' They abused their natural mindlinking abilities to build an unstoppable army of War Kreatures outfitted with [[Battle Kreature Enhancement Armour|armoured suits]] and [[Aura Blaster]]s, spread from their homeland and conquered the rest of the continents. The Silarcs and Dolneans already living there were forced to submit to Imperial rule. However, [[Kragok Defiance|rebels among the Silarcs]] continued to plot in secret, with the goal of developing [[Tamer Amulet]]s which could allow anybody to mindlink with a Kreature. They had the tools to fight back against Kiisaktos supremacy, but not the numbers.

The status quo was interrupted by the sudden appearance in Dimentiara of the last [[human]] refugees, who had fled the destruction of their [[Terra|homeworld]] through a [[Dimensional Travel|one-way interdimensional vortex]]: this event came to be known as the '''[[Dimentiara Exodus]]'''. They brought new technology with them, such as sub-orbital flight, cybernetics and forcefields, which they offered to the Empire as a peace initiative. The Kiisaktos Empire was more than happy to take the tech but humans weren't treated any better under the regime than Silarcs or Dolneans had been.

As humans were integrated into Dimentiaran society, the Imperial court used them as a scapegoat for domestic issues, for they they brought with them not just new technology but subversive ''ideas'' that undermined Imperial rule, such as democracy, racial equality and freedom of religion. The Empire squashed an [[Human Freedom Uprising|early human-led rebellion effort]], which was hastily organized and poorly equipped. The Kragok Defiance seized the opportunity to gain new allies by granting sanctuary to any and all humans. Using the same biotechnology the Empire had used to mass produce Kreatures, they even offered to boost the human population; ostensibly as a goodwill gesture, but in actuality so they could grow soldiers to use against the Empire. [[Lenlar Democratist Movement|A faction of Domonid democratists]] within the Empire itself also split off and joined the rebellion around this time. Together they became known as the '''[[Zartex Coalition]]'''.

It would be an erroneous oversimplification of the Refugee Wars to call it a conflict between species. There will always be useful idiots among oppressed groups who align themselves with their own oppressors for their own personal gain. There were Humans, Silarcs and Dolneans who fought and died for the Empire, motivated by fear; greed; misplaced loyalty; or a desire for acceptance.

With tools for mindlinking, new allies and the ability to mass produce Battle Kreatures of their own, the Zartex Coalition struck back. A decades-long battle of attrition was waged across the entire planet. If the war could be said to have had a "winner", it would be the Coalition, as the Kiisaktos Empire lost its ability to maintain control over its colonies and eventually succumbed to internal strife which saw the Imperial court disbanded and the monarchy abolished.

However, it was ultimately a Phyrric victory for the Coalition. During the Refugee Wars, civilization was mostly decimated. Both sides, focused on victory at all costs and not about the long-term consequences of their actions, would sabotage the other by intentionally releasing the other’s Battle Kreatures, forcing the enemy to waste time and resources rounding them back up. Those which couldn't be recaptured were able to establish feral breeding populations in the wild and would terrorize the land, causing social and ecological upheaval. Even worse was the pollution from chemical weapons and aura blasters, which contaminated former conflict zones. Entire regions had to be abandoned, which even included some towns and cities, and they remain uninhabitable to the modern era.

The only way for society to function in the aftermath was for Humans, Domonids, Silarcs and Dolneans to band together in an integrated society.

==The Age of Restoration==

With no common enemy, the Zartex Coalition began to crumble as its disparate members quarreled over what to do with the former Imperial colonies and how to govern them. The strongest factions established in this era would go on to build the nations which now comprise modern Dimentiara.

==The Modern Era==

As of DAC5215 there are no major ongoing conflicts, but the seeds for future hostilities are planted. The nation of Rikenga, backed by their ally Lenlaria, pose a threat to their neighbouring countries of Crylona, Olios and Zaitopia. The two politically dominant nations, Akatoria and Badonlas, indulge in mutual sabre rattling with Enderon and Zaitopia stuck between them, hoping it doesn’t escalate. The islands that make up the Lavok Archipelago are like a broken, bickering family and rebellion lingers on the horizon. Festering resentment from the colonialism which took place during the Age of Restoration burns in the hearts of those who were conquered and yearn for freedom. Dimentiara may not currently be at war but neither is it at peace.
